Getting started

Scan a business card

  1. Place the card on a steady, well-lit surface.
  2. Keep the full card inside the on-screen guide and tap the capture button.
  3. Review the detected name, company, phone numbers, email addresses, and other details.
  4. Correct anything that needs attention, then tap Save.

Every confirmed scan is saved to the app's local CRM. When Contacts access is available, the app also attempts to save the person to iPhone Contacts.

Better results

If a card is not reading clearly

  • Use even lighting and avoid glare across glossy cards.
  • Hold the phone steady and keep all card edges inside the guide.
  • Move closer when the text is too small, without cutting off the card.
  • Try rotating a vertical or unusually designed card.
  • Always review the result before saving.

Permissions

Camera or Contacts access

The camera is required to photograph a business card. Contacts access is optional: if it is unavailable, the scan can still be saved to the local CRM.

To review access, open iPhone Settings, choose Apps, choose The Card Scanner, and check Camera and Contacts. With limited Contacts access, matching can only check the contacts you allowed.

Saving

Duplicates and contact images

When an exact phone number or email match is found, the app may suggest updating an existing person. Name-only possibilities remain optional so the wrong contact is not overwritten.

For a new contact—or a confirmed strong match—the cropped business card can be saved as the Apple Contact image. The final appearance during an incoming call is controlled by iOS and the user's device settings.

Messages

Follow-up messages

Set your sender name and message template in the app's Settings screen. The Card Scanner prepares the message, but you review and send it through Apple's Messages interface.

If Messages is unavailable, confirm that the iPhone can send text messages and try again from the saved CRM record.

Purchases

Subscriptions and restoration

If your installed version offers The Card Scanner Pro, use Restore Purchases in the app's Settings screen to recover a subscription purchased with the same Apple Account.

Apple manages billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds. You can review or cancel an active subscription from iPhone Settings by selecting your Apple Account and then Subscriptions.
